We are all sick

We think if we do good, having good moral ethics and principles, and walk as upright as we possibly can with integrity, we have earn the right to be called good. We think our altruistic deeds gives us a sense of pride and dignity even if it’s self motivated.

But Jesus Christ said, “There is none good but One, that is, God….” Mark 10:18

And Jesus also said, “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” Matthew 7:11

Thus, if no man is good, but God; therefore implies on the contrary that all man are evil. And Jesus actually says man is evil despite being able to give good gifts in the context of how much more God will give good things to those who ask Him.

God describes the very heart of man as morally corrupt. “9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9

David says, 5 “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me”

Due to sin, Adam and Eve no longer reflect the glory of God in their characters. They were no longer a mirror image of the Creator. And their descendants will inherit a fallen nature, which would be conceived in sin. Not only legally in violation of God’s law, but spiritually impoverished making them subjected to sin and death. Having a natural propensity, curiosity and imagination for evil continuously, irrespective of consciously knowing what is right.

The Bible says, “ All of us have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory…..”

“0 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: 14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: 15 Their feet are swift to shed blood: 16 Destruction and misery are in their ways: 17 And the way of peace have they not known: 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Romans 3:23 and Romans 3:11-18

It’s even in our faith in God we acquire righteousness. A righteousness that does not come from ourselves, but a righteousness that comes from God through faith. The righteousness of God.

God alone justifies us by our faith in Him. And cleanses us from all unrighteousness, while imparting righteousness to us. Becoming more in the likeness of Christ each day. This is a life long process, ending in death.

We are all in desperate need for the Lord Jesus Christ. The loving and personal saviour who is God manifested in the flesh. And came to save man from sin and the eternal damnation of it. We all need to seek Him with all our hearts, and once we have found Him, give our all to Him continuously. We need to give up our filthy rags of self righteousness. We need to give up our pride and hurt. We need to humble ourselves before the Lord, be clothed in His righteousness and allow Him to heal us from all of our hurt and pain. Allowing Him to restore us back to His image in the likeness of His character or else we are doomed.
