Some say human beings are inherently good, while others think there’s only certain individuals who are evil.
Where chaos not caused by natural disasters seems random by humans.
But according to the Bible human beings are evil. And in desperate need of a saviour for redemption.
Describing the human condition as spiritually impoverished. Objectively poor spiritually. Due to a separation from God because of sin. The heart is described as deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, morally corrupt. And nature, sinful. Having natural tendencies to do that which is evil continuously in absolute selfishness. Constantly, like a parasite feeding from the energy and nutrients until it’s dead, devising evil in the imagination.
Our impulses, thoughts and acts are an abomination. Especially, before a Holy, just and righteous God. Our righteousness is nothing, but filthy rags. Whatever good we attempt on our own strength is tainted with sin. Good will be compromised for evil. Evil will be justified over good for the sake of convenience. And self will always be put first and exalted without having a care for others.
A abomination is like a rotten apple with a decaying bacteria which gives off an unpleasant odour, destroying anything that comes across its path. We are the apple, the sin is the evil which causes us to rot. It’s the bacterial virus that causes us from the inside out to decay and be disturbingly unpleasant by being destructive to anything pure.
And Just like an apple is inclined to go bad and attract worms and other insects, If it touches another apple it spreads its rottenness, making it unfruitful altogether.
Therefore, when we go through the process of sanctification, the rotten parts of our characters gets cut out (removed). So we can still remain fruitful.
God can save to the uttermost. But those who have knowingly and completely rejected the light of God’s love, have embraced the rot to such an extent destruction is the inevitable consequence. The apple wants to remain exactly what it is. A rotten apple. When an apple is completely rotten it dies.
