The suffering of Jesus Christ

When we contemplate the issue of pain and suffering, we often think God is so far removed and detached, that He can not possibly relate to us. We even tend to blame Him for allowing it to happen in the first place.

But God became a man and dwelt amongst His people in the person of Jesus Christ. He felt pain. He persevered through suffering. He felt tired And He sometimes got depressed. He did not only face all temptations, but His humanity was tested at the same degree of His divinity. Due to who He is, the Devil often grievously wronged His heart with severe injustices and provocation. Miserably vexing His soul.

The devil did not only tried to constantly incite doubt by persistently question His identity, and presenting to Him the glory of the world and its riches. But tried to get Him to indulge in the spoils of worldly appetite over the focus on God’s word.

He suffered greatly. People despitefully used Him. Some mocked Him, and called Him insane. He was push beyond the physical limits of His strength. And at times He anxiously suffered even to the point of death.

He was hated and angered by many without a cause.  Persecuted for righteousness sake. Some threatened His life, while others conspired to kill Him to the point of His crucifixion.

Therefore, He went through unimaginable, incomprehensible pain and suffering than any other who ever lived.

Jesus was always crying. Weeping for what sin has caused. Causing pain , suffering, misery and death by separating man from God. Jesus wept for the state of humanity and its inhabitance.

He did not resist evil. He turn the other cheek . He loved and prayed for His enemies. And treated everybody including his enemies with the same love He loved Himself with. And treated them how He wanted to be treated.

God knows and is moved with compassion and understanding than we know. For His mercy endures forever. His mercy is as high as His justice, which is infinite. God empathises with us.

God suffers because we suffer. Due to sin. Ever since sin was conceived and furthered itself in our existence, God’s heart has been deeply grieved with inexpressible sorrow.  Which was manifested in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ who died for our sins.

This demonstrates, He did not only experience pain by observation of seeing the destruction of His creation. But personally took upon Himself our pain and suffering to experience it for Himself. To its deepest depths. And experienced death. So we can have the hope of salvation.
