The Gospel means good news, the good news of Jesus Christ. The good news of Jesus Christ is God so loved the world, that He sent His only begotten Son to be a living sacrifice, so none should perish who believes in His name, but have eternal life. Reconciling the world back to Him through His Son. John 3:16-21. Sin separated us from God. Isaiah 59:2. Adam’s sin caused us to inherit a fallen nature. Inheriting the natural propensity to sin. For we were conceived in sin and shaped in iniquity. Psalm 51:5. Death then reigned because of sin from Adam to Jesus, who came as a second Adam. Through one man’s disobedience, many became dead in transgression unto death, so by the obedience of one, many would become righteous to everlasting life. The law, The Moral Decalogue (The Ten Commandments) is the knowledge of sin. Therefore, sin is the transgression of it. Romans 3:20 and 1 John 3:4. We are all sinners, and have come short of the glory of God. There are none righteous, no not one. Romans 3:23 and Romans 3:10.
We are saved by faith in the grace of God through Jesus Christ, in His atoning sacrifice. To simply trust, believing in the free gift of the love of God by the atoning sacrifice of His Son, where God’s grace and justice kissed each other at the foot of the cross, granting the sinner pardon. Thus, there was nothing that we could do as sinners to save ourselves. Our self righteousness are as nothing, but sinfulness. Our good deeds, emanates from self righteousness are as nothing, but filthy rags. We are not justified by the deeds of the law, lest any man shall boast. We are justified by faith in Jesus Christ. Justification by faith lays man’s glory in the dust. There is absolutely nothing man can do, but to have faith in God. Accepting His free gift through His Son.
Once this is believed, there is a change of heart. A complete heart transformation. Receiving an assurance of God’s love, that is shed abroad in the heart by the indwelling of the Holy spirit. Where the spirit of the law, elevates its principal, which is love. Hate is seen as murder, and lust is adultery. Putting the law in the mind, and writing it on the table of the heart. Experiencing the spirit of God bearing witness to ours, that we are children of God. A change of heart is more than a change of perspective. No longer being a slave to sin, but to righteousness. Knowing God’s love within the depths of the heart, that passeth all knowledge. Loving God, because He loves you. Loving God at the same degree of His love for you; and therefore, willingly offering obedience out of love to Him. Salvation does not just then mean eternal life, it is also freedom from sin.
This experience goes beyond just knowing intellectually who God is according to His word. It completely transforms the individual from within, making he or she like new. If you do not have a change of heart, then your religion will be only psychological with just a change of perspective. A change of an intellectual perspective does not cure the internal chaos within the heart. The chaos is sin. Sin is a supernatural problem. Thus, the one who has the power over it can deal with the issue. That one is Jesus Christ.
