Some are called to be single for awhile before marriage.Waiting until marriage to be with someone. And there’s others that are called to be single for the rest of their lives. Each person individually, has a different calling for their life. Not everyone is meant to be married, and not everyone is meant to be single. Sometimes, God will keep us hid for years to develop our Characters in the likeness of Christ before putting us with the right person, or He could give us someone instantaneously. Due to the contentment with His love.
Most Christians hate the idea of singleness. let alone, living the rest of our life alone. But the apostle Paul was single for the rest of his life. Not only was he single for the rest of his life, but he completely abstained from sex as well.
Paul says, “7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. 8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I.9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. 10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: 11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.” 1 Corinthians 7:7-11
No matter what then, God should always be first, and anything else apart from that, is considered as idolatry. God should always be first when we’re single and when we’re married. God should be enough when we’re in our season of singleness, and God should be enough if He is calling us to be single until His second coming.
